Rise of Zamiya
An aging cleric of Avandra who has found a new family.
It was a beautiful day when Daire held his son, broken and dying in his arms. The sun shone and birds sang on the day that his wife, broken in spirit, her mind and body ravaged by the raiders that took her boy, finally let go of life mere days after her only child was put into the ground. The heavens finally cried when Daire, mired in despair, turned his back on the military life he had lead, on his shattered and discarded dreams of settling down, on the day he started walking. In his grief he turned to his remaining family, his sister and his brother. His brother was gone, he had left to live a life studying magic in the Elven lands and never so much as returned on of the many letters that Daire sent to him explaining of his great losses. His sister was some comfort but she had her own family to care for and Daire did not want to burden her with his own grief. So, he walked. He walked to get away from his feelings of failure, his wasted life, his dashed hopes. He would earn his keep in the small villages and towns that he stayed in by helping the sick and wounded, employing the skills he had learned as a medic in the army. He simply…existed, nothing more, nothing less. When he was at his darkest, on the tenth anniversary of the raider attack that took everything from him, that a light shone on his life. It was at that moment that the goddess of travelers, adventurers, luck, and change decided to intervene in the life of one broken man. That was day that Daire received the blessing of Avandra and became a cleric in her service. He continued his travels from town to town, healing the sick and wounded where he could, that he was found by his nephew Tully. He had come from the Elven lands to request the help of his uncle in curing a crippling plague that had engulfed the lands. Daire had no love for his brother or his new-found nephew but he still agreed to help. It was during his search for some of his old contacts that might be able to help him that he came to be part of a group of adventurers that would one day be known as the Heroes of Meadowhome. So now he stands, a healer and warrior, a man who has found once again the thing he had thought lost forever. Daire had found a new family and he’d be damned if he was going to lose it.
